About Us

St Mary, Newmarket is an historic town centre church with strong links to the town and to the horse racing community. It stands on the site of a thirteenth century Chapel of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

We worship in the Anglo-Catholic tradition and our main service is the 9.45 am Sung Mass on Sundays with other services and activities throughout the week.

St Mary’s PCC has passed a Resolution under the House of Bishops’ Declaration and the parish is under the pastoral and sacramental care of the Rt Revd Norman Banks, Bishop of Richborough.

St Mary Newmarket is affiliated to (i) The Society under the patronage of Saint Wilfrid and Saint Hilda and (ii) Forward in Faith. This means that we are in full communion with the Bishops of The Society and with all other member parishes. These bodies provide and maintain catholic teaching and practice within the Church of England and guarantee a ministry in the historic apostolic succession in the life of our parish.
