| Notice The PCC meets at 7 pm on Monday 14 September at the Rectory Funeral Services The funeral of the late Ms Rena Douglas will take place at St Mary’s on Monday 7th September, at 10.30am, followed by interment at Newmarket Town Cemetery. The funeral of the late Jean Bonham will take place at St Mary’s on Wednesday 16th September, at 11.00am, followed by interment at Newmarket Town Cemetery. PATRONAL FESTIVAL & GIFT DAY We are changing back to September. This year the Patronal Festival and Gift Day are on Sunday 6 September. COMMUNITY POP-UP SHOP This has moved from the Catholic Church Hall to the Turner Hall and is now open from mid to late mornings every Thursday. FLOWERS IN CHURCH The decision has been made by the PCC that as from the beginning of September, only artificial flowers AND foliage will be used as we do not have sufficient people to water, deadhead etc throughout the week, and at least this way it will save time and money as well as hopefully allowing us to keep our tradition alive to decorate the whole church for the festivals. We have boxes of flowers for everyone’s use, together with some foliage and we will be looking at adding to that. I hope our valuable flower arrangers will not find this a problem, but we have to accept that we no longer have the volunteers that we used to. I know some of you may find this difficult but just to let you know when I was in St George’s chapel last year, I made it my business to feel the flowers in the stunning arrangements and guess what? They were artificial!! So, if it’s OK with His Majesty it’s OK by me and I hope it will be with you. Janet The British Racing School & Newmarket Charitable Foundation Are asking for volunteers (over 25) to host 16–18-year-olds beginning their careers in racing, who can offer a safe, welcoming home; agree to undergo safeguarding checks and can support such a young person starting out in the horseracing industry.
